Pandemic Information and Care

One of the most important parts of our work is always to inform Chörten Travellers as best as possible so that together we can think of what works best for your trip, in each situation, as well as for each one of us. We will update this page as we receive more information that will help us understand the travel situation in these countries.

Information we use

Our World in Data from Oxford University we think it is a reliable source of information (within the possible availability of information in each country) : https://ourworldindata.org

Magazines, newspapers and universities that use data from Our World Data: Science, Nature, BBC, CNN, Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, Cambridge, Oxford and MIT.

Along with information from local and international newspaper reports, conversations with work partners, of course and very importantly, our own travel experiences in these regions.

* Importantly, we consider that the availability of information about the pandemic varies from country to country, influencing here the amount of tests and exams that have been carried out.

Rules in these countries and regions

Na India we had the inclusion of Brazil in the list of countries of origin of vaccines (not the nationality of the Traveler) that exempt the need for a covid test to travel through the country. Thus, we can travel to India with an RT PCR test performed at most 72 hours before the trip, with a negative result*, or with an international certificate with a full cycle of vaccine against covid. Some states may request these same documents. On international arrivals, 2% of passengers on flights, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated or not, will be asked to take a covid test (as in other countries in Europe for example)* **.

similarly in Nepal we can travel with an RT PCR test performed no later than 72 hours before the trip, with a negative result*, or with an international certificate with a full course of vaccine against covid* **.

to return to Brazil, according to current rules, anyone who does not have the international certificate of vaccine for covid, will need to take a test (antigen or RT PCR) to be able to come back with a negative result.

* If at any time before or during the trip symptoms and/or test requested are presented and the result is positive, Viajante is committed (in the document that we will help to issue with the government of each country) to be quarantined and pay the values. We have not seen or experienced such a situation fortunately. If this happens, we have the impression that it is a (small) possibility that will be part of much of the international travel after the experiences we had with the pandemic, we will do our best with refunds with hotels and airlines. But we are 100% dependent on the cancellation and conduct policies of each local service provider, each hotel and each airline. We think it is important to keep this point in mind when traveling after what we have already experienced with the pandemic.

** More details will be informed in the preparations for the Trip.
